A Full Journey Of Virat Kohli To His 100th Test Match. 






Virat Kohli is going to play his 100th test match for India in mohali against Sri Lanka on 4th of March, his journey has been full of struggle and success and today we will go through to his journey to 100th test matches. 

Virat has played 99 test matches till now and have scored 7962 runs with the average of 50.39 and the highest score of 254 against Sri Lanka In Delhi.

For a international player to play 100 test matches is a big achievement you need to be consistent, fit, good performance, to play 100 matches for your team many less people have been able to do so, Ishant Sharma was the last player for India to play 100 test matches. 

The name Virat Kohli was in talk since 2006 and his U-19 days. Everyone at that time knowed Virat is going to be a successful cricketer for India in future but no one knowed how successful he will be in future that he will be compared with the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar. 

Virat debut for India in 2009 but he did his test debut against West Indies in Sabina Park on 11th June 2011, but he was not able to do good with the bat and use to sat in bench most of the time and due to his bad performance he was dropped from England tour in 2012, but then he was selected to play in Australia. He scored a brilliant hundred in Adelaide since then he never look back in his test career .

The Disaster of England Tour - 




Virat was doing superbly In his test career he scored 100 against South Africa, New Zealand in their own condition and was expecting him to be Future masterclass at that time in 2014. Then came the England tour where he failed miserably and scored 136 runs in 9 innings in 5 test matches he played, everyone in the world was criticising him for his defense for outside the off stump deliveries and wanted him to drop from test cricket he also told in an interview that he was depressed after that tour. This was one of the lesson was taught as a cricketer at that time. 

The Australian Comeback :




After disastrous England Team every so called cricket experts wanted him to be dropped for the Australian tour but no one knowed that "King Masterclass Was Loading". Then he was made Captain for the first test against Australia in Adelaide as Dhoni got injured before the match and Virat was made Captain. This match showed masterclass of Virat Kohli he scored hundred in both the innings of the test match and was unstoppable in that series and scored 4 centuries and total of 692 runs in the series which is the most by an Indian in a single test series but still India lost the series 2-0 and dhoni retired from 2014 Sydney test and Virat was made Captain of Indian Team. Remember India was ranked 7 in test cricket when Virat took the captaincy. 

The Masterclass In England-



After really bad English tour on 2014, it was a real exam for Virat Kohli in England as he has to prove himself in England and he scored 149 runs in the 1st innings of 2018 tour, then he scored one more hundred and 2 more half centuries in that series in total he scored 593 runs In 5 test matches but still India lost the test series 4-1 but Kohli passed his test in England and bowls outside off stump. 

Virat "The Test Captain" -




Virat was made Captain of Indian Team after Ms Dhoni announced his retirement from test cricket and India was ranked 7th in ICC rankings of test cricket. Virat took the responsibility with both of his hands and took India to the 1st rank in test cricket and built the fast bowlers which India was missing from Years in his term of captaincy he won series against every test playing nation at home and against Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies away and he was captain of team which was leading 2-1 against England in England. Virat became first Asian Captain to win test series in Australia and became the first Indian captain to win series in Australia, Sri Lanka away and against West Indies twice away from home. In his term of captaincy India reached wtc final in 2021 where they lost to New Zealand. India just lost 2 matches at home in tenure of captain Kohli. Virat was failed to win test series against New Zealand and South Africa away in his tenure of captaincy he also became the most successful Indian test Captain of all time with 40 wins in 68 matches of his tenure, he also became the first Indian captain to score a double century overseas and also he has most number of double hundred as Indian test Captain he has total of 7 double century as a Captain. He also became the third most successful Captain of history of test cricket. The team he lead in test cricket was the best team that was field ever for India. He brought the feircy of fast bowling which whole world didn't wanted to face. He then left captaincy earlier this year because of his workload management and era which I saw indian team reach top was ended it was very sad moment for me and other Indian fans.

Virat Record In Test Cricket - 

1. Virat scored centuries as skipper in both innings of a Test match

2. Virat Kohli scored most double centuries as Test captain

3. Virat Kohli is the highest scoring Indian Test captain





Virat is now going in his bad face of his career where he is not able to score centuries and is not able to score consistently since 2019, hope we see the Virat Kohli back in form as soon as possible.
