Tata IPL 2022 Preview 2022 : Punjab Kings
It Can be easily said that Punjab Kings is the one of the least successful team in the history of IPL, they have been able to reach final once in 2014 where they had lost to Kolkata Knight Riders where Wriddhiman Saha had scored century and Kolkata Chased 200 in finals, that year they were the closest to win the trophy but after that they have not been able to even qualify for playoffs. They have changed a lot of Captain since then and all of the have been unable to help them to reach playoffs. Murali Vijay, David Miller, Glenn Maxwell, Ravichanadran Ashwin, Kl Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are names of captain which led Punjab Kings or Kings X1 Punjab since 2014.

Their biggest problem is that they don't give consistent run to a player, they keep on changing players if they don't perform for few matches, players don't feel secure about their place in team, they always had fear of getting out of X1 and because of this reason they were not able to perform consistently as a team. Kl Rahul left them before the auction and they made Mayank Agarwal as their new Captain. They had retained Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh before the auction and they entered the auction with the highest amount of purse.
Punjab Kings franchise had the highest purse entering the auction but were known for bad buys in history of IPL, but this year they had spent their purse wisely and have bought really good players from auctions. They bought Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingston and many more match winners in their team, they have got superb power hitters in the team with odean Smith who can give franchise runs in the death over and also 4 overs with ball.

But still they need to be consistent going into tournament which is their biggest problem, in 20180 they had won 5 matches out of initial 7 matches but then in next 7 matches they were just able to win 1 match. This shows team inconsistency which they need to figure out before going into the tournament.

They might go with 4 main pacers and 1 main spinner with Liam Livingston and Shahrukh Khan can also give them overs if needed, they will also have Rishi Dhawan as another medium pacer, they might also play Raj Bawa in place Of Rishi Dhawan but they will go with experience. They have got 8 bowling option in team which gives the team balance which they were lacking from Years.

Mayank Agarwal : he is made the new Captain of Punjab Kings franchise as Kl Rahul left the franchise before the Mega Auction, he also captained the team in 1 match against Delhi Capitals as Kl Rahul got injured he scored 99 not out in that match, and not just match he has been scoring dozens of run for the franchise from last two years he is also striking near 144 this shows how selflessly he plays for his team. He will look to lead the team to the playoffs and also look to score lot of runs, he has really good team with him this year which will took pressure from him, he has Shikhar Dhawan as his batting partner which will take burden from head of Mayank. He will be leading a side permanently for the first time.

Shikar Dhawan : he was bought by the franchise in the auction after he was not retained by his previous franchise Delhi Capitals, he has been one of the highest scorer in last two seasons of IPL, it can be said Punjab Kings will be his home franchise which suits his Nature. He is going to open with Captain Mayank Agarwal in this season, he will look for lot of runs in this season so he can make comeback to the Indian National side which still looks difficult even he really good session. Punjab will hope that he carry his form from last two previous seasons.

Shahrukh Khan : he became the most
paid Indian uncapped player in the history of the IPL because of his unique ability of finishing a game, he will also give you some overs with ball, he showed glimpses of his power hitting in the previous season for the same franchise, after a good IPL season he was really good in domestic season he led Tamil Nadu to be champion if Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and runner-up of Vijay Hazare trophy, he is also groomed by Indian National team and Punjab Kings will want him to finish game really well as he was doing for Tamil Nadu.
They have a really good squad on paper and can reach playoff with the match winners they have but still this is IPL it is really difficult tournament you have to be consistent and luck should be in your way to win the tournament.
