Kolkata Knight Riders is the third most successful team in the history Of IPL in the Year 2012 and 2014 in the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, but since then they have been able to reach final once in 2021 IPL. So today we are going to preview Kolkata







Kolkata Has done smart buys in this Mega Auction happened on 12th and 13th February this year, they have got Shreyas Iyer as their Captain and a fabulous batsman. They had retained Andre Russel, Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer and Varun chakrawarthi before the auction. Biggest surprise from their was they had dropped the captain Eoin Morgan which led them to final last year and young batsman Shubhman Gill. They had retained Venkatesh Iyer as they saw something in him as he had performed superbly in second leg of IPL last season which was played in UAE. 


Shreyas Iyer will be leading Kolkata Knight Riders this year who was bought by team for big amount of 12.25 cr he will look lead his team to final this year.  Shreyas has really good captaincy record in IPL he led Delhi to Play offs in 2019 and finals in 2020 but due to injury he was ruled out of IPL 2021 and Risabh pant was made Captain of Delhi Capitals and he did well. Delhi Capitals offered him but he denied offer because he wanted to led a side.

They had a good Auction, they got Shreyas Iyer, Anjinkya Rahane, Alex Hales, Sam Billings, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav as new buys. They bought back Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana from the auction.

Their playing X1 really look good with batting debt they can fire from the start of innings itself, they have got explosive Rahane  in top order with Venkatesh Iyer And Shreyas Iyer and middle order consisting of Nitish Rana, Sheldon Jackson who will play as a wicket keeper Andre Russell as a all rounder and bowling line up consist of Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav. Their pace bowling is really with Pat Cummins And Umesh Yadav not being a good T20 bowlers and Shivam Mavi being inexperienced. They will ask Russell to ball in death overs.

Shreyas Iyer : he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction table, he will be leading the Franchise this season. Previously he was With Delhi Capitals where he performed fabulously both as a Captain and a batsman. Kolkata Knight Riders franchise will want him to well with both as captain and as a batsman, he his likely to bat at No 3 for the team. He is really good form recently as he was man of the match for India In T20i series against Sri Lanka where he scored 3 fifties and remained not out throughout the series, the franchise will. Want him to carry his form throughout the tournament.

Venkatesh Iyer : venkatesh iyer the all rounder made it to the team of Kolkata Knight Rider team in second leg of IPL 2021 which was played in Dubai. His contribution with bat and ball led Kolkata Knight Riders In the final of last season where they lost against Chennai Super Kings. He gave his team explosive start as an opener and gave some crucial overs with ball. He is retained by his team this year before the Mega Auction and team will expect him to score lot of runs and will also want him to take some crucial wicket. He will also like tos do well to cement his place as all rounder in Indian Team.

Andre Russell : he was in red hot form during the season of 2018 and 2019 but since last two seasons he has been average slow pitches might have been also the reason. He used to ball death over during last season and is expected to ball in death overs this year too as Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowling line up is really weak. Team will also want him to finish well in middle order. He was also retained by the franchise.

Sunil Narine : Sunil Narine has always been X Factor for the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise he has been playing for this franchise now for last more than 10 years. He is really handy with bowl he don't give much runs and pick crucial wicket. He used to bat as a opener for Team but due to bad batting form he was demoted down the order. He was retained by the franchise before the auction and team will want him to perform really well. 


Kolkata Knight riders team this year is looking really fabulous and what I think is they are likely to be part of 4 team which are going to play playoffs.

 Lucknow Super Giants is the news team in the IPL, it was bought by rpsg Rajiv Goenka Group for a whopping 7000cr. They had option to choose Any of the Lucknow or Ahmadabad based franchise, they chosed Lucknow as their company work has been based in Uttar Pradesh.
